We’re looking for a creative and strategic volunteer to help us save time and level up our social media presence across the year. As Girls in Gear continues to grow nationwide, we want to ensure our messaging is consistent, mission-driven, and engaging without reinventing the wheel each month.

In this project, you’ll help us create a yearly social media calendar aligned with our key program milestones, seasonal registration windows, fundraising campaigns, and relevant holidays (think: National Girls and Women in Sports Day and International Day of the Girl).

The final deliverable will be a branded, ready-to-use calendar and corresponding Canva templates, helping us spend less time planning and more time empowering girls through bikes.

You're a great fit for us if you're passionate about our mission, you have a background in managing professional social media accounts, and you can spend ten hours over one to three weeks on this project.

Girls in Gear is growing fast! We’ve spent years refining our all-abilities programs, and now we’re expanding into more communities across the country. To support that growth, we’re strengthening how we communicate - especially on social media - with the families, volunteers, and supporters who make our work possible.

By helping us build a year-round social media calendar, complete with platform-ready content and Canva templates, you're helping us increase visibility, deepen engagement, and inspire action. More consistent, strategic content means more awareness, more registrations, more donors, and ultimately, more girls on bikes gaining the confidence to lead, one bike ride at a time.

To prepare for the project, we will provide you with our events calendar and other relevant social media handles of organizations that are pillars in our sector. You'll have access to a Google Album of photos and our Canva account with all our branding (colors, fonts) and creative assets.

Organization Mission

Girls in Gear emboldens girls of all ages and abilities, especially low-income girls and girls of color, by using bike skills to foster confidence, autonomy, and independence. Our programs - Pedal Power, Club GiG, Glide-to-Ride, and Camp GiG - offer safe, inclusive spaces for growth, focusing on life skills beyond biking. With a no-questions-asked scholarship policy, we remove barriers by providing bikes, helmets, and financial support, ensuring every girl has the opportunity to thrive. Learn more at girlsingear.org.
