Our nonprofit needs support crafting a templated communications plan. We hope to use this framework as we re-evaluate and revise how we include and communicate with stakeholders, camp alumni, current camp families, future program initiatives, fundraising events, and development work.

We need your expertise to communicate big moments for our nonprofit clearly, concisely, and consistently. We are looking for a skilled communications professional to:
-Create a checklist to guide your organization through the who, what, when, and how of sharing program updates, internal shifts, or responses to current events
-This checklist should pull in all the various channels that our nonprofit should use to reach staff, users, clients, volunteers, or funders so we have a standardized plan for outreach
-The templated communications plan should take into account our current marketing tools and staff availability

This project should take from 12-24 hours to complete. We're hopeful that our volunteer partner will share 2-5 hours of their time per week.

We offer a camp where campers feel supported, and accepted. Through classes, clubs, activities and more, we empower campers to academically explore, fail, and grow. AICL has always done programming and culture exceedingly well, where we've suffered is in the infrastructure and operations which in the long run is limiting our ability to impact more young lives. Helping us develop this plan will push us one step closer to expanding our reach.

To prepare for the creation of this communications plan, we've defined stakeholders and the interacts we'd like to cultivate between each and the organization as well as what's in it for them along with what we need from each group. We've also invested in a CRM tool (GiveButter) and recently the system we use for our camps upgraded their communication capacity (CampMinder). Additionally, we've set three year goals for the development of this work. For now, we need some help figuring out what we should be thinking about and what we need to be developing. The focus of this project is just on the plan, not the assets or the items needed to bring the plan to fruition.

Organization Mission

We celebrate the life of the mind, but we’ve seen too many bright, interesting campers who don’t necessarily fit well in a traditional school model to limit ourselves to those who’ve been classified as “gifted.” Instead, we call our campers “motivated learners,” figuring anyone who shows up to take biology, math, or art in July is motivated. What AICL does is to create an environment in which it’s safe to laugh and learn, to risk and fail, to experiment with something outside of one’s competence. Through outreach and scholarships, we foster a racially and economically diverse community. At AICL, we see everyone as both a learner and a teacher. We encourage social and intellectual interactions that will enable our students to fulfill their personal, professional, and academic potential. Because we build curricula based on the idea that learning is fun and should be on-going, we prepare our students to engage our complex world with insight, empathy, and confidence. When a camper comes to AICL, they have an opportunity to join a community of educators and students who are passionate about learning and creating.
